Other Administrative Tasks

The programs linuxconf and DrakConf are useful for system configuration, especially network configuration (if you have a network card), changing the system services (if you have no home network, all services should be turned off), fiddling with the video resolution, or (un)installing software packages. Both programs must be run as root. It is fairly safe to poke around with either one to see what system parameters can be changed, but it is prudent to keep careful written notes of all changes you make.
