   This is a very good start on the first writing assignment.  
   You have done a very good job, for the most part, on the 
   "they say" part.  

   I have made a number of suggestions for rewording
   or rewriting things directly on a printout of the 
   paper.  Ask me what I meant if the markings are not
   clear.  At the end of this section, though, you 
   basically just give two direct quotations from 
   the Laskawy article without explaining the points
   he is making in more detail.  I think you want
   to flesh out this section by adding a discussion
   of how both the rise of pesticide-resistant insects
   and the rise of herbicide-resistant "superweeds"
   is a direct result of the sort of evolutionary 
   "arms race" that happens when we introduce a GMO
   into the natural environment.  The insects' and weeds'
   genomes are also getting modified in response and
   it's only natural that they get better at countering
   the human-created traits of the crops we put into
   the environment.
