Mathematics 134 -- Intensive Calculus 2

Quiz 1 -- Things to Know

January 24, 2001

The first quiz of the semester will be given in class on Friday, January 26. There will be two or three questions similar to problems from the first problem set. You should know the following material.

  1. Antiderivatives graphically -- be able to sketch a qualitative graph of y = F(x) with F'(x) = f(x), and F(0) = given given the graph y = f(x)
  2. Antiderivatives symbolically -- be able to compute antiderivatives for functions given by formulas involving sums of power functions, exponential functions, and sin and cos. (Note: As in some of the homework problems, you may need to do some algebra on the function to put it into that form.)
  3. Be able to solve simple differential equations dy/dx = f(x).

Good Review Problems:

  1. Chapter 6, section 1: 1 - 4, 11
  2. Chapter 6, section 2: questions like 1 - 41
  3. Chapter 6, section 3: 1, 5, 7
