Tim, This is a reasonably good paper on the life and contributions of Nicolo Fontana ("Tartaglia"). However, it would have been better to bring in some additional material beyond what we discussed in class (there's not too much that is new here). For instance, if you look at the page http://mathshistory.st-andrews.ac.uk/HistTopics/Tartaglia_v_Cardan.html (linked from our course homepage), you will see a number of extracts from letters of the principal people in the story, a translation of the actual text of Tartaglia's poem on the solution of the cubic, samples of the problems that came up in the contests you described, and so forth. That would have been a very good source to consult in addition to the ones you used. In addition, please be more careful about details in your written work: (1) It's Cardano (or sometimes Cardan from the French form of the name), not Cardona (2) The title of Cardano's famous book is the Ars Magna, not the Ars Magnus ("ars (nom.), artis (gen.)" is a feminine 3rd declension noun in Latin :) ) (3) There are quite a few other typos as well.
