Holy Cross co-hosted the Boston Preliminary Round for the NorthEastern North America Region of the ACM International Programming Contest this Saturday, October 13. Our co-hosts were Harvard College and Boston College. Winners from the Preliminary Round compete in regional contests, and may then go on to the international competition, held this year in Honolulu.
The contest is sponsored by ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, and IBM. Teams compete to solve fiendish programming problems under time pressure. There were 15 teams in the Boston Round this year, 8 at BC and 7 at Holy Cross. The top four teams in our round this year were from MIT, UMASS-Amherst, Brown, and Middlebury.
Holy Cross fielded (labbed?) a team again this year: Tim Hattori, Laura Picone, and Tom Ziniti.
