River of Words Poetry and Art Contest. River of Words, in affiliation
with The Library of Congress Center for the Book, conducts an international
poetry and art contest for youth on the theme of watersheds. The
contest is designed to help youth explore the natural and cultural history
of the place they live, and to express, through poetry and art, what they
discover. The contest is open (no charge) to any child, K-19, on their own
or as part of a group. Prizes are awarded in art and poetry categories, according to
age group. All entrants receive acknowledgement in the form of a Watershed
Explorer certificate. The entry deadline (U.S.) is February 15, 2004
