Dear Andy,

Thank you for your fast reply. Your advice helped me to solve the problem.
On my linux distribution two different compilers are installed (3.x, 4.x is
set to default). 
I had to change one line, in the "config" file:
EPIX_CXX=/usr/bin/g++-3.4
and add one in the Makefile:
CXX=${EPIX_CXX}
That's it!

Another question: Does there exist an archive of the mailing list? I didn't
find it by google. Because I want to avoid to ask the same questions over
and over again.
