epix changed behaviour

1 year ago I used epix to create some pictures and it worked very fine. Now
I wanted to compile the old pictures again, but it does not work anymore.
there were some updates to the linux system (debian), maybe ghostscript,
tetex, ... I also tried on a different machine (kubuntu 5.10) with the same
result. i also tried to generate new pictures with the same result.

to get more precise:
- arrows look different (too big)
- font position changed
- vertical arrows can't be drawn vertical
things noticed so far.

a short example:

#include "epix.h"
using namespace ePiX;

main()
{
bounding_box(P(-1.0,-7.0), P(1.0,7.0));
picture(P(400,300));
unitlength("1pt");

begin();

arrow(P(0.0,0.0),P(0.0,0.5)); // vert

end();
}

when using epix filename.xp it results in:

%% Generated from differentiated-spectrum-raised-cosine.xp on Mit Mär 15
10:45:53 CET 2006 by
%% ePiX-1.0.6
%%
%%   Cartesian bounding box: [-1,1] x [-7,7]
%%   Actual size: 400pt x 300pt
%% Figure offset: right by 0pt, up by 0pt
%%
\setlength{\unitlength}{1pt}
\begin{picture}(400,300)(-0,-0)
%% ---
\path(nan,nan)(nan,nan)(nan,nan)
\path(nan,nan)(nan,nan)(nan,nan)(nan,nan)(nan,nan)(nan,nan)
\end{picture}

if i change the coordinates of the arrow such that it is not vertical,
everything works fine.

i guess this is due to some new libraries or so. has anyone experienced
similar problems? is there a solution?

best regards
markus
